#1 Bray: Knowledge...

Closing a chapter in life today may bring forth a new book of knowledge tomorrow

Knowledge is not wisdom and when we keep God out of the equation, evil will rear its ugly head.
There are many things in life that we will want to put behind us. Many a times, we do not know how to close that chapter of our lives properly. A good finale is usually a tough one, either we choose not to let go or we choose to sweep everything under the carpet. It takes great courage to end a chapter in life today and hope for a better chapter tomorrow. Learning not to make history repeats itself, we need constant reminder that everything that has not been dealt with properly will resurface in future, whether we like it or not.

Therefore, instead of hoping to ONLY gain knowledge in life, we should choose to seek wisdom as well. The fall of man started when Eve was tempted by the serpent to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam failed to protect his wife from the evil serpent and he, too fell in the trap of deceitfulness.

As it has been written clearly in the Bible:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools (morally deficient) despise wisdom and discipline
[Proverbs 1:7]
This is because when we have the knowledge WITHOUT the fear of the Lord, it will make our brains swell larger than a coconut. Many of the great philosophers will use human understanding to explain the behaviour of men right until they find the loop hole to justify their own misdeeds. Everything becomes argumentative and the law of God ( the Ten Commandments) which should be our guidelines in life, do not hold water anymore.

I am not saying that pursuing knowledge is redundant.
It is not good to have zeal without knowledge,
nor to be hasty and miss the way.
[Proverbs 19:2]

Often times, we always think that by sharing with others, we might gain knowledge in any of the hard press situation in our lives. Some twit about their bad day and mostly use the shoutout in Facebook to let others know of their bad hair day. They feel better after getting comments which show that there are friends supporting them and the other person has done great wrong to them.

Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge
[1 Timothy 6:20]

There are always two sides of the story. Nowadays, no one will want to take the effort to know and listen from both sides but judgement is passed down to the victim instead of the inflicting the emotional pain to the victim. The weak will always get into a group and wallow in self-pity, giving himself a false comfort.
We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But the man who loves God is known by God.
[1 Corinthians 8:1-3]

The key point in life is...
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love
[1 Corinthians 13]
